What is the Community Scrutiny Forum?

The NT Parliament has a scrutiny committee, where proposed laws can be referred for further investigation and community consultation before the law is debated and voted on. There are many laws that the CLP Government has refused to send to the scrutiny committee, but we believe that when important laws that affect people's rights are being debated, everyone should have the opportunity to have their voice heard.

We have established this community scrutiny forum to make sure that when the Government says they don't want to listen, we can make sure your voices and views are on the record.

Proposed “Ethics and Integrity Commissioner”

This government’s decision not to send the proposed Integrity Commissioner Bill to the Legislative Scrutiny Committee is deeply troubling. 

If passed, this Bill will fundamentally reshape our entire integrity system. It appears to consolidate four separate statutory offices - the Health Complaints Commissioner, the Independent Commissioner Against Corruption, the Information Commissioner, and the Ombudsman, into a single person. 

When the government proposes changes that go to the heart of transparency, and accountability and trust, Territorians must have a say. These are changes that will affect you, and the CLP Government needs to know what you think about them.
