To the Northern Territory Government and Members of the Legislative Assembly:

We call on the NT Parliament to pass a Future Generations Bill.

Government decisions made today shape the Territory our children and grandchildren will inherit.

We need laws that make sure  governments look beyond the next election and consider the long-term consequences of their decisions.

A Future Generations Bill would create a clear legal duty for governments to consider the interests and wellbeing of future generations when making decisions and developing policies.

By signing this petition, we call on every  Member of the Northern Territory Parliament to support:

• Accountability for the long-term impacts of government decisions.

• Long-term thinking and planning in NT policy and investment.

• A legal duty to consider future generations in government decision-making.

• The wellbeing of future generations, including protecting our air, water, environment and natural resources.

Let’s make sure the Territory we leave to future generations is considered in every decision we make today.
