Data centre development – Project Ares

Project Ares (186,000 ha) is a hyperscale data centre 52 km north-west of Elliot and 100 km south-west of Daly Waters in the Barkly region which includes: ground water extraction up to 4 GL/yr; a 7,000 ha solar farm; battery energy storage systems; gas fired power generation infrastructure; access roads; airstrip; worker accommodation.

Amendment to the NT Planning Scheme 2020 to facilitate infill development and subdivision in Zone LR (Low Density Residential) across the NT by reducing the minimum lot size from 800 m2 to 450 m2 and allowing more types of multiple dwelling homes in Zone LR.
