Home Grown

The Home Grown Project is our creative initiative celebrating everything we love about Johnston. We are bringing the community together around food, art and stories.

Building on the success of this year’s Tropical Still Life drawing sessions at Rapid Creek Market with local artist Tisha Tejaya, the project brings our community together through art made from the produce, colours and character of our place. These drawing sessions have captured the warmth and creativity of the Johnston community, and show what’s possible when people come together around a shared love of place.

These artworks are coming to life through a series of community-made items, including a 2026 calendar, screen-printed t-shirts, and locally designed textiles. These pieces will be available at Justine’s mobile office at the markets, with all proceeds supporting the Johnston Community Benefit Fund, helping local organisations and grassroots projects thrive. The Homegrown Project is about more than art, it’s about strengthening community, and celebrating where we live, and creating something meaningful together.
