Thank you so much for joining the Johnston Electorate Office team. It’s wonderful to have you on board. I greatly appreciate your support for our work to change how politics happens in the Northern Territory, and to assist me as an Independent Member of the Northern Territory Parliament.

My hope and intention is that your participation is enjoyable and positive, and that everyone involved feels valued and safe. Our team encourages open and respectful communication, equality, inclusion and fun.

This Volunteer Agreement outlines our mutual commitments and the standards of behaviour and expectations for volunteers. 

Agreement

You agree: That all duties are on a voluntary basis and you will not receive remuneration or payment for this work. 

Justine and the team value volunteers and will endeavour to provide you with:

• An orientation and any training necessary for the volunteer role.
• A safe and inclusive environment.
• Respect for your privacy, including keeping your private information confidential.

In return, as a volunteer for the Justine for Johnston campaign you agree to:

• Be welcoming and inclusive.
• Act with honesty and integrity. 
• Treat everyone with respect and sensitivity.
• Be accountable for your own actions and speak up if you feel unsafe or concerned about anyone’s behaviour. 
• Follow directions from the volunteer coordinator.
• Fulfil your commitments or let the volunteer coordinator know as soon as possible if you can’t.  
• Let the volunteer coordinator know if you feel pressured, overwhelmed, or uncomfortable with a task you have been asked to do. 
• Keep office information confidential (see below for further information).
• Not speak publicly on behalf of the Member unless you are authorised to do so. If in doubt, you will check with the volunteer coordinator.

Please note volunteers undertake their volunteer activities at their own risk.

Confidentiality

In your role, you may be given access to confidential information, such as the private information of constituents and businesses of the electorate, as well as other volunteers and staff of the Johnston Electorate Office or other confidential information about parliamentary work. You agree not to use or disclose such information for any purpose other than the proper discharge of your duties as a volunteer for the Johnston Electorate Office.

Photo Consent

If you are included in a photo or video while carrying out your volunteer activities, this agreement gives permission to use these images for marketing and sharing information about the Johnston Electorate Office, unless you have specifically requested in writing that your image is not used. This may include the use of your image in printed and digital marketing and on social media platforms.
